V55s Put to the Challenge, Respond
with the Power to Break Iron Ore

from our March, 2001 Issue

Port Cartier, Québec. Québec Cartier Mine, in Mont-Wright, northern Québec, produces approximately half of the Canadian iron sold worldwide in the open market. Their markets are Europe (70%) and Japan (30%). They are well-situated on the Gulf of St. Lawrence, providing a deep-water harbor from which to ship iron pellets.

Eight years ago Québec Cartier replaced drop ball technology with hydraulic hammers to break huge boulders of very hard iron ore in their mine field. Researching the hardest hitters led them to Tramac’s heavy-duty BRV52-3. They purchased two and never regretted their decision.

Recently Québec Cartier traded in their BRV52-3s for V55s – and they were delighted that, as a result of this upgrade, production increased 20%. The hammers are mounted on Komatsu PC 600 LC-6s.
