T RAMAC’S NEW DA
The Demolition Processor Comes Into Its Own
From our May 2002 newsletter

They made their debut at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2002: the new DA Demolition Processors. These powerful, new attachments are definitely more than a cosmetic makeover of the original MB; they’ve been completely redesigned and improved. The DA is destined to make Tramac a serious player in the non-impact attachment market.

The competitively-priced DA Demolition Processors are used for demolition projects that involve steel and/or concrete, such as bridge demolition, demolition of concrete structures, and pipe removal. The three models–DA 370, DA 450, and DA 550–are available with three jaws: the MB Concrete/Steel Demolition Jaw, the MC Cracker Jaw, and the MS Steel Shear. As before, jaws are interchangeable but the changing time is twice as fast as it was on the previous MB units.

The MC Cracker Jaw has been redesigned for greater versatility. Its longer cutting blades can be used to cut large steel as well as rebar and its tooth punches through concrete. Cutting and crushing can be done in one operation. Blades on the MC and MS are replaceable.

The MB Concrete/Steel Demolition Jaw has rebuildable cutting edges and, as its name implies, is used for cutting both steel and concrete. It cuts rebar in two directions and makes sized cuttings for easy handling.

Across the board improvements…
Reverse cylinders–previously only in the MB 550 and now standard in all three DA models–protect the cylinders while working. Twin cylinders and a single jaw pivot pin maintain dynamic balance and stability during operation.

An optional extra heavy-duty 360° hydraulic rotation system now fits all three DA models. It is designed to take abuse and ensures longer life.

Tramac’s demolition processors are shorter and somewhat lighter than most of the competitions’ models. This means they are less “tippy” and better balanced. This is particularly important on extended-length booms which are being used more and more as demolition from the top down becomes common practice. DAs have an excellent power-to-weight ratio and will fit smaller carriers as a third-member mount.

The DAs attach with a universal mounting plate which is standard with Tramac hammers and adaptable to all carriers.
